Week 1: Establishing A Practice

Week 1 lays the foundation for students to build a sustainable meditation practice. During this introductory week, students will learn more about Medgrove, the course structure, and essential elements for starting a daily practice of meditation. 

By the end of this module, students will:

  • Understand how to navigate the course and engage with the materials.

  • Learn the fundamentals of meditation and key preparatory elements.

  • Develop a daily meditation practice with the 6-week practice challenge.

Week 2: History Of Meditation

Week 2 is an exploration of meditation’s historical development, cultural significance, and traditional practices. Students will gain an understanding of how meditation has evolved across different civilizations and how various traditions have shaped modern meditation practices.


By the end of this module, students will:

  • Recognize the origins and evolution of meditation in different cultures.

  • Understand key wisdom traditions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, Taoism, etc.) and their meditation practices.

  • Understand how to navigate feelings of restlessness, boredom and doubt.

  • Explore how to handle emotional release and challenging feelings arising in meditation.

  • Learn how to measure progress and stay motivated.

  • Discover how challenges in a meditation practice can serve as powerful lessons.

Week 6: A Deeper Understanding

The final module explores how a regular meditation practice can help cultivate spiritual insight, expand self-awareness, and support meaningful personal change. This module introduces key concepts such as working with the subtle energy that arises through meditation and developing deeper spiritual understanding.

By the end of this module, students will:

Meet The Instructors

Jamie Redmond

Jamie is a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association (IMTA) and has been practicing meditation for over 15 years. After studying Buddhism at the University of Vermont he traveled to India to deepen his understanding of meditation within its traditional context.  He believes that meditation is a fundamental human activity that should be accessible to all, regardless of religious background or spiritual belief. Having experienced firsthand the transformative power of meditation, he is passionate about sharing the practice so that others may cultivate greater clarity, presence, and depth in their own lives.
